Paul L. Whitaker
January 8, 1922 - February 6, 2011

Paul was born January 8, 1922 in Nevada to Claude E. and Ester (Neal) Whitaker. He married Zola M. Dodd on March 6, 1942 in Princeton, MO. Paul served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. When Zola died in 1995, he married Lola Jeannett (Oswalt) Dodd on September 4, 1998 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Paul was a farmer and lifelong resident of Story County. He was a member of the Collins Christian Church, Freeland Carver American Legion Post #81, 40 & 8, and the Moose Lodge.

Paul is survived by his wife Lola Dodd Whitaker of Collins; 2 sons, Craig (Shirley) Whitaker of Maxwell and Jerry (Bonnie) Whitaker of Ankeny; a daughter, Joyce Whitaker of Des Moines; a step-son Barry (Michelle) Dodd of Monroe; 2 step-daughters, Debbie (Doug) DeViliviss of West Des Moines and Sandy (John) Helgeland of Zearing; 4 grandchildren; 2 plus 1 great-grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; and 3 step great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Zola on April 18, 1995, a grandson Joey Whitaker on November 13, 2008, and a granddaughter, Marsha Whitaker.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10 with the family present from 5-8:00 p.m. again at the Collins Christian Church.

A memorial fund has been established in Paul's name.

Service:

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 11 at the Collins Christian Church, 303 Main Street in Collins with Pastor Scott Jones officiating.

Cemetery:

Burial, with military rites, will follow the funeral service at the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins, Iowa
