Amber Hickle
November 4, 1943 - March 2, 2011

Amber Lou Hickle passed away at her home on Wednesday March 2, 2011 with her loving family by her side. A visitation will be held on Saturday March 5, 2011 from 2p.m.-4p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary 708 Fifth Street in Nevada, Iowa. Amber's final resting place will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins with burial taking place at a later date.

She was born on November 4, 1943 to Harold and Lena (Corbin) Smith at the family home in Sullivan County, Missouri. When she was a young child the family relocated to Colo where Amber attended and graduated from Colo High School in 1961.

On March 8, 1965 Amber married the love of her life, Vernon Hickle in Collins, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born. Over the years she worked as a librarian in both Collins and Nevada libraries and as a township clerk until she retired in 2006. Amber had many interests in life but most important to her was her family, especially her grandchildren, crossword puzzles, genealogy, gardening, camping, cooking, hunting mushrooms, and reading.

Those left to cherish Amber's memories are her loving husband of 45 years Vernon; three daughters, Tracy (Bill) Birchmier of Maxwell, Kristy (Jon) Armentrout of Collins, and Lori (Jerry) Arends of Nevada; seven grandchildren, John, Megan, James, Jodi, Kevin, Phelan, and Tyler; five brothers Russ (Mary) Smith of Collins, Rex (Sophie) Smith of Gower, MO, George (Jan) Smith of Slater, Ron (Marcia) Smith of Nevada, Jerry (Marilyn) Smith of Nevada; two sisters Melva Allison of Independence MO, and Millie Peterson of Cadiz TN; sister-in-law Tessie Smith of Valley Station KY; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Amber was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Ray Smith.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Amber and her family.
