Carroll Anthony Meimann
February 22, 1924 - March 14, 2011Carroll Anthony Meimann, 87, formerly of rural McCallsburg, died on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Colonial Manor of Zearing. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 17 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1110 11th Street in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Carroll was born on February 22, 1924 in Lincoln Township, Story County to George N. and Frances C. (Tagatoff) Meimann. He was a 1942 graduate of McCallsburg High School. On October 1, 1949, Carroll married Illa E. Byers at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada where he was a member. He was a farmer who loved the land. Carroll also enjoyed being with his grandchildren, woodworking, bird watching, raising different animals and peacocks.
Carroll is survived by two daughters, JoAnn (Marcus) Burg of McCallsburg and Karen (Kevin) Gogerty of Hubbard; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Michelle (Jeremy) Bowden and their children Cole and Case, Marc Burg, Ryan (Carola) Gogerty, their child Finn and one child due May 21st, Alicia (Ryan) Roesger, and their child Delaney and one child due July 1st, Megan Burg; three sisters Marjorie Henderson of Story City, Bernita Arneson of Ames, and Rita Rehak of Cedar Rapids.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years Illa on December 3, 2010, 4 sisters Violet Post, Pauline Peterson, Elizabeth Meimann, Marcella Henderson, 3 brothers, Bernard Meimann, Audrey Meimann, and Marion Meimann.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.
A memorial fund has been established in Carroll's name.
