Lucile Barbara Kockler
August 19, 1913 - April 25, 2011Lucile Barbara Kockler was born on August 19, 1913 at Swea City Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Louise (Krumm) Kollasch. She attended Swea City grade and high school. She married Walter Kockler on June 21, 1932 at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft and farmed in the Swea City and Armstrong areas before moving to a farm northeast of Bancroft in 1936. They later moved to their own farm in 1949.
Lucile was baptized in St. John's Catholic Church in 1913 and a member of the church her entire life. She and Walter were active members of St. John's Parish for nearly 80 years as well as active members of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Lucile was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society for all those years. She was a true homemaker, caring for her large family cooking, baking and gardening and truly enjoyed life on the farm. After Walter's death in 1999 she continued to live on the farm until 2006 when she went to live with her sons Allen and Bill until 2008, when due to failing health had to have skilled nursing care. She moved to the Rolling Green Care Center in Nevada, IA in 2008.
Lucile died Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Rolling Green Care Center at the age of 97.
Lucile was preceded in death in 1999 by Walter after 67 years of marriage; her parents; a sister Leona Senenfelder; and 3 great-grandchildren, two being identical twins.
Lucile is survived by her eight children, George (Annette) and Art (Janette) of Bancroft, Paul (Arlene) of Pleasantville, IA, Barbara (Roger) Meyer of St. Paul, MN, Harold (Pat) of San Jose, CA, Allen (Kathy) and Don (Deb) of Nevada, IA, and Bill (Carol) of Saint Jacob, IL; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Delores Francis of Rockwell, IA; two brothers Kenneth Kollasch (Joyce) of Fairmont, MN, and Edwin Kollasch (Marian) of Swea City; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
