Sarah Jane Grabill
December 16, 1936 - May 24, 2011

Sarah Jane Grabill, 74 of Nevada died on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 at the First United Methodist Church, 1036 7th Street in Nevada with Pastor Kevin Leveck officiating. The family is requesting all family and friends wear bright colored clothing in honor of Sarah. Burial of the cremains will be held in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Sarah was born on December 16, 1936 near Carney, Missouri to Oscar Eldridge and Mattie Emmeline (Clouter) Shields. She graduated from Excelsior Springs Missouri High School at the age of 15. Sarah was married to Richard Vincent Grabill on December 16, 1952 in Excelsior Springs, MO. They would later divorce. She retired in 1998 from the Story County Treasurer's Office. Sarah enjoyed reading and flower and tree gardening.

Sarah is survived by 3 sons, Richard Grabill of State Center, Larry Grabill of Boone, and Daniel Grabill of Nevada; a daughter Lena Mueterthies of Ames; 8 grandchildren, Benjamin, Jim, Betsy, Jaz, Keith, Kyle, Skylar, and Zachary; 3 great grandchildren; and a niece (who was like a sister) Charlene Todd of Winterset.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, a son Forrest Leroy Grabill on June 14, 1971, 4 sisters, Opal, Daisy, Mary and Katie; 2 brothers Bill and Jake.

A memorial fund has been established in Sarah's name.
