Elmer Azel Patrick
May 31, 1927 - January 7, 2012
Collins, IowaElmer A. Patrick, 84, of rural Collins, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa.
Elmer was born May 31, 1927 near Jamaica, Iowa, the son of Azel and Della (Souder) Patrick. He graduated from Jamaica High School in 1944. Elmer then served in the Navy during World War II. He returned home and later was united in marriage to Edith Ball on April 24, 1948 at Commerce, Iowa. Elmer farmed in the Madrid, West Des Moines, Mingo and Collins areas throughout his life. He was a member of the Mingo United Methodist Church and the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, and was a past Boone County Soil Conservation District Commissioner. Elmer loved his wife, Edith, his family, and farming.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Edith, of Collins, Iowa; three sons: George (Trish) Patrick of Ames, Iowa, John (Wanda) Patrick of Dallas Center, Iowa, Mark (Connie) Patrick of Colo, Iowa; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister: Faye Adamson of Des Moines, Iowa; and a sister-in-law: June Ball of Colo, Iowa.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and one grandson, Brian John Patrick.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, at the Mingo United Methodist Church. Interment will be 2:00 pm at the Brethren Cemetery near Dallas Center, Iowa.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.
Memorials may be made to the Mingo United Methodist Church.
