Leonard H. Keltner

April 22, 1935 - March 17, 2012
Nevada, Iowa

Leonard H. Keltner, 86, of Nevada, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, at his home in Nevada.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home.

Leonard was born to H. H. and Bernice (Hawckett) Keltner on April 22, 1925 in a rural area west of Linden, Iowa. He graduated from Linden High School in 1943. During World War II, Leonard worked in California in the shipyards. He married Dorothy Moses in 1950. He returned to Iowa to be employed by meat packing plants. After coming to Nevada and working at Midwest Pack, he purchased the plant in 1960 and ran the business until he retired in 1997. He will be remembered for his great love of "fast" cars.

Leonard is survived by his long time companion, Dorothy Cathey, one son: Leonard Lee Keltner of Colo, Iowa; a sister: Wilma (Don) Culver of Greenfield; two granddaughters; two grandsons; six great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and a daughter-in-law: Leona.

Leonard's family wishes to give special thanks to Jeanine Pfantz and Homeward Hospice for all their tender loving care of Leonard during his illness.

Memorial contributions may be made to Homeward Hospice, First United Methodist Church of Nevada, or to the charity of one's choice.
