Ruby Lea Alexander Frangos, September 27, 1930 - November 8, 2010
Ruby A. Frangos, 80, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Ames, Iowa passed away November 8, 2010 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., with a time fo sharing at 5:30, Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Adams Funeral Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ames, with Father Basil Hickman of St. George Greek Orthodox Church officiating.

Ruby was born September 27, 1930 in Pollock, Missouri to Royal John and Zelphia Alexander. The family moved to Ames in Ruby’s early childhood. Ruby graduated from Ames High School in 1949. She married Angelo Frangos also from Ames in 1965 and worked at Iowa State University until 1967. Ruby had two children, a son, Peter A. Frangos and daughter, Eleni F. Maloney. Ruby was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Des Moines, Iowa. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, seeing family and friends, and spending time with her children especially her grandson A.J. with whom she had a very special bond. In one last of many acts of kindness in her life she donated her liver to someone so they may live.

Ruby is survived by her son, Peter A Frangos of Boone; daughter, Eleni F. Maloney of Olathe, KS.; grandson, Alexander Jacob Maloney, Olathe, KS; three brothers, Bill Alexander of Ames, Jerry Alexander of Punta Gorda, Florida, Ron Alexander of Huntsville, Alabama; three sisters, Louise Irvin and Marilyn VanPatter both of Ames, and Colleen Jensen of DeKalb, IL. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Angelo Frangos; and two brothers, Carroll Alexander and Dean Alexander.
