BORN: April 7, 1911
DIED: November 26, 2010
LOCATION:

Cleo Mabel Kalsem, 99, died Thursday, November 26, 2010, at Abington on Grand, Ames, IA. Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 30th, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kelley, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home.

Cleo was born April 7, 1911, in rural Ames, Iowa, to Jasper C. and Minnie Spurling Bates. On Jan. 23, 1932, she married Porter Kalsem. Porter passed away on July 31, 1956. Cleo has been a lifetime resident of Story County. Following the death of her husband Cleo cooked at Nevada, and Ames Schools, and Fraternities and Sororities at Iowa State.

Cleo is survived by three daughters: Marjory (Loren) Muench of Ames; June Squire of Marshalltown; Rebecca Gater of Sarasota, Florida; two sons: Jim (Murley) Kalsem of Ames; Roger Kalsem of Waterloo; and 14 Grandchildren; Jim, Bill, Joe, Mike, Marie, Kevin, Ken, Nancy, Mark, Bert, Annette, Maggie, Clint and Jon; and 21 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, John C. Kalsem; three brothers; and one sister.
