Ole Bernard Skaar, Sr.

BORN: July 5, 1930
DIED: December 3, 2010
LOCATION: STory City, Iowa

Ole Bernard Skaar was born July 5, 1930 to Lars and Hannah (Hill) Skaar in Cambridge, Iowa. He graduated from Story City High School in 1948. He married Mary Jane Peterson September 27, 1950. Ole served in the United States Coast Guard from 1949 to 1953 during the Korean War. He worked for the city of Story City and Mary Greeley Medical Center, retiring in 1992.

Ole was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City and enjoyed camping, collecting coins, cards, photography and traveling. He enjoyed winters in Arizona and traveled many times, with his children and grandchildren, to Norway.
Ole passed away at 80 years of age on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames of heart failure.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Ron) Kinyon of Ellsworth, Ole Jr. (Jackie) Skaar of Story City, Paul Skaar of Ames, and David Skaar of Story City; his sister Judy (Arden) Quam of Ames; his brother Luther (Betty) Skaar of San Gabriel, California; five grandchildren, Carolyn, Barbara, Jennifer, Kathryn, and Lars; and ten great-grandchildren, Breanna, Lauren, Noel, Eva, Nora, Kaia, Leif, Brenden, Claire, and Darius.

Ole was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister Arlotte Stole.
