Beulah Olson

BORN: April 1, 1912
DIED: February 21, 2011
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

Beulah Angeline Olson was born April 1, 1912 to Simon and Tina (Olson) Knutson in Hamilton County, Iowa. Beulah was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and lived her entire life in the area except for her first six years in Montana. Beulah lived with the Art and Helen Fardal family while attending high school in Stanhope where she graduated in 1931. She attended Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines and received her RN degree in 1934. Beulah worked at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City, Iowa until her marriage to Arthur B. Olson, February 23, 1937. They were married at the St. Paul’s church parsonage and farmed southwest of Jewell, where they retired. Beulah moved to Story City in l992.

Beulah was active at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church as a Sunday school teacher, member of the ladies aid and enjoyed working on the church history. She always put family first, enjoyed traveling, gardening, painting and working on family genealogies.

Beulah passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at Bethany Manor in Story City at 98 years of age.

Beulah is survived by two sons, Edwin (Nancy) Olson of St. Charles, Missouri, and Julian (Trudy) of Waterloo, Iowa; one daughter Karen Berg (Kenneth) of Racine, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; Kevin (Kim) Banks, Kari (Phil) Buysse, Wendi (Andy) Raymond, Alisa (Chad) Hines, Nikki (Troy) Cooley, Wade (Kristen) Olson, Brian (Kim) Berg, Alan Berg, and Steven Berg.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter Doris Banks; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Tiller Knutson and Harold Knutson.
