Ronald Mumby

BORN: July 17, 1930
DIED: February 26, 2011
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Ron was born July 17, 1930 in Victor, IA to Wilbert Orville and Marie (Rauch) Mumby. After high school Ron joined the Army and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. While serving his country he also served in the Navy, Air Guard and Army Guard. On September 19, 1953, while serving at Hunter Liggett Army base, he and Marie were married in the Catholic church in King City, California. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 817 in Boone, Iowa. Ron retired from the DOT after more than 40 years where his last position was an inspector in the rail division.

Ron loved being outdoors camping, hunting and fishing. He especially looked forward to his yearly fishing trips to Canada with his friends.
He is survived by his son, Edward Mumby of Platteville, Wisconsin; grandson, Bradley Mumby of San Diego, California; sister, Bonita Fettkether of Dyersville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ames Animal Shelter in memory of Ronald, Marie, and Frankie.
