10/24/1919 – 6/19/2011Vera (Molln) Cook died June 19, 2011 at Madrid Nursing Home at the age of 91. Visitation was held Monday, June 20, at Adams Funeral Home, Ames. A memorial service will be held 7 pm Tuesday, June 21 at Oakwood Road Church, 2400 Oakwood Road, Ames. Burial took place at the Greenfield Municipal Cemetery, Greenfield, Iowa.
Vera was born Oct 24, 1919 in Orient, Iowa to Marven and Leona (Jensen) Molln. She graduated from Orient Iowa High School. Vera married Charles Cook Feb 16, 1941 in Greenfield Iowa where they lived and farmed for over 25 years before moving to Ames in 1967. Charles worked for ISU and Vera enjoyed spending time in the farmhouse. She loved spending time with family and grandchildren as well as hosting tea and coffee for friends and international partners in ministry. She always had an open door, ears to listen and a prayer to encourage. Vera was an active member of Oakwood Road Church..
She is survived by three sons, Jack (Connie), Keith, and Kevin (Patti) Cook all of Ames; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cook of MS; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Molln of Greenfield and Kathy Cook of Corning; 13 grandchildren, Michelle Phillips, Heather Cook, and Curtis Cook all of NC, Melissa Davis, of FL, John Putnam, of MS, Susan (Mike) Moore of Kelley, David (Michelle) Cook of Urbandale, Nathan (Sabrina) Cook of Ames, Maxton (Heather) Cook of Boone, Jordan Cook of Ames, Abigail (Travis) Berger of Ames, Logan (Michelle) Cook of Overland Park Kansas and Theresa Cook of Ames and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; two sisters, Mae King and Irene Eversull; one brother, Fred Molln; son, Curtis Cook; and daughter-in-law, Carol Cook.
Memorial funds will be used at family’s discretion.
