Sandra Jean Borrill began her journey of life on Jan. 8, 1960, in Mason City, at Mercy Hospital. Sandy graduated from Clear Lake High School with the class of 1978. She was also a graduate of the North Iowa Community College in Mason City.

Those left to cherish her memory are her hubby, Jeffrey Borrill, of Ames; her daughters, Amanda Borrill and Brittany Borrill, of Ames; her dog, Shadow; her father and step-mother, Frank and Joan Koehler, of Mason City; her mother and step-father, Doug and Jean Lill, of Kingman, Ariz.; her sisters, Sue (Alf) Larson, of Mason City, Shirley (Jim) Koehler-Jansma, of Hopewell, N.J.; Sharon (James) Koehler-Janowski, of Hampden-Sydney, Va.; mother-in-law, Mary Borrill, of Clear Lake; seven nieces, Carrie Keel, Cassie Nielson, Elysia Skaanning, Sydney and Selena Borrill, Bethany Larson, and Ava Janowski; three nephews, Jonathan Nielson, Izaak Janowski, and Caleb Borrill; as well as other extended family members and friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Kenneth Borrill; both her grandmothers, Blanche Davis and Gussie Koehler; her niece, Christina Nielson; and her two nephews, Jason Skaanning and Taylor Borrill.

She was united in marriage to her "hubby" and love of her life, Jeffrey Borrill, on Oct. 3, 1981, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City, and to this union they were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Amanda and Brittany. Her big heart and great family values kept them close in happy and difficult times.

Sandy was employed at the Ames Community School District in 2002, and since has been an inspiration to students and employees. She had a passion for helping students and guiding them to become outstanding young adults. Always ready to reach a hand out to those in need, she loved life and the people in it.

She developed a love for reading, gardening, fishing, shopping, and cooking but Sandy's love for life and family were of most importance to her. She had a knack for being a "handy-woman" for fixing things in which she inherited from her father, Frank. Her selfless personality made her an amazing wife and mother. She was often a source of advice and guidance to friends, family, and students. Her optimism and wonderful sense of humor were contagious to others. Sandy touched the hearts and lives of many whose paths she crossed. These characteristics and her uplifting spirit became even more apparent in her last days of life. She inspired others to live life in the same way as her.
