Barbara A. Doolittle

BORN: August 2, 1929

DIED: August 24, 2011

LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

Barbara A. Doolittle was born August 2, 1929 to Arnold W. and Burdella A. (Pederson) Peterson in rural Story City, Iowa. Barb taught school in Newton for two years and at Story City Elementary for two years. Barb and Dorrel Doolittle were married December 30, 1950. Barb was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church and was the organist there for 57 years. She directed the choir at Grace, taught piano, and accompanied children at music contests for many years. Barb enjoyed watching sports and attending her children's and grandchildren's activities.

Barbara A. Doolittle, 82, of Story City, passed away August 24, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Barb is survived by her husband Dorrel of rural Story City; two sons, Doak Doolittle of Holdrege, Nebraska, and Doug Doolittle of Story City; six grandchildren, Derrick Doolittle, Drake Doolittle, Britain Doolittle, Kent (Jennifer) Doolittle, Frank (Julie Leffingwell) Doolittle, and Jacki (Eric) Schares; and three great-grandchildren, Erik, Nora, and Mia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Kenneth Peterson.

Memorials may be designated to Grace United Methodist Church Music Fund.
