Ellen Cryder

BORN: November 28, 1942

DIED: October 5, 2011

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Ellen Elizabeth Cryder, 68 of Ames died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011. Visitation is 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday Oct. 10 in the Squire Boone Cemetery.

Ellen was born November 28, 1942 in Webster City to Arthur and Elizabeth (Whitaker) Eckley. She attended Boone High School. She married Don Cryder November 24, 1967. He preceded her in death in 2008. Ellen owned Ellen's Ceramics for 30 years, owned Cryder Trucking with her husband for 10 years and was a business coordinator at Hoffman LaRoche (Des Moines Nutritional Product) for 42+ years. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, weekly shopping trips with sister, Alice, Nascar and sprint car racing and spending time with family. She was a very generous person.

Ellen is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Ellen Eckley of Boone; three sisters and one brother, Junior Eckley (Susan) of Cape Girardeau, MO, Elsie Collins of Boone, Alice (Ron) Bass of Boone, and Linda Larson of Ankeny; long-time friend, Earl Tice of Ames; nieces and nephews, Stacey (Randy) Franzen and their children, Reilly, Ross, Reece, Rhett, and Reagan, Christopher Collins and his children, Adalan, and Walker, Sarah Bass and her children, Bryon, Taylor, Kaylie and Eyan, Jennifer (Chris) Jemison and their children, Hannah, Hayden and Maddie, Jonathan (Danielle) Crook and their children, Kate and Hunter; and her beloved dogs, Choco and Bandit.

She was preceded in death by her father; husband, Donald; brother, Robert; nephew, Christian Eckley; and great nephew, Ryan Franzen.
