Phillip Evans

BORN: July 14, 1941

DIED: October 7, 2011

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Phillip Evans, 70, of Ames, died Friday, October 7 at home. Visitation is 10 – 11:30 Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Adams Funeral Home with burial to follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Phil was born July 14, 1941 in Ames to Dwight and Dolores (Stone) Evans. He graduated from Ames High School and served in the Marines. Phil worked as a mason at Iowa State University for 35 years. He also was in law enforcement in Huxley and Kelley. Phil married Sally Walsenko July 15, 1979. He was a member of the American Legion and NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting antiques.

Phil is survived by his children, Kristine Evans, Kelly Smith, Tim Evans and Jane Howe; six stepchildren; 14 grand children and four great grandsons; sisters, JoLene (Jack) Wilhelm of Ankeny, Mickey (Luke) Lucas of Sunnyvale, Ca; and his fiancé, Meral Yilmaz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one stepdaughter.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
