Gerald R. Shelton

BORN: September 26, 1933

DIED: November 26, 2011

LOCATION: Story City, Iowa

Gerald R. Shelton was born September 26, 1933 to Rue and Genevieve (Simpson) Shelton in Webster City, Iowa. Gary was united in marriage to Joann Lempke on October 5, 1952 in Vincent. Gary was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Story County Shriners, American Legion, and the Elks. He served in the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran. Gary retired in 1995 after many years in the real estate and insurance business.

Gary passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at 78 years of age, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.

Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joann; his daughter Sheri (Jeff) Gatchel of Huxley, Iowa; his son David (Julie) Shelton of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; grandchildren Matthew (Brandee), Sara (Travis), Samantha, and Maddie; great-grandchildren Mason, Max, Marley, and Zoe; brothers Bob, Lynn, and Paul; his sister Mary Chalfant; and special sister-in-law Joyce Busse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Dale Shelton and Ron Shelton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Israel Family Hospice House.
