From Adams & Soderstrum Funeral Home obituary, Story County, Iowa:

Liese Jacobson

DIED: December 27, 2011

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Liese Jacobson, 89, of Ames, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, of complications due to emphysema.

A private family gathering is being planned for a later date.

Liese and her twin brother, Robert, were born April 22, 1922 in Nuremberg, Germany to Max and Helene Ehrlich. Their parents divorced when they were young. In 1933, Helene emigrated with the two children to Prague, Czechoslovakia. In 1939, Liese and her brother left Czechoslovakia for the United States. Their father was already in the U.S. at the time. Their mother came to the U.S. after World War II, having spent the war years in Norway and Sweden.

Upon arriving in the United States, Liese lived in New York City. There she met and married Leonard Jacobson. The two worked together as theatrical agents booking entertainers in the Catskill Mountains summer resort area of upstate New York and in nightclubs in and around New York City. After Leonard died in 1976, Liese took a position with a company that booked entertainment on cruise ships. She loved the opportunity this gave her to travel on many of the cruises, including to Europe, the Caribbean, and Alaska.

Liese retired in 1989 and moved to Ames to be near her son Carl, his wife, Carol, and their children, Mark and David. She is survived by them, as well as by her brother and his family.
