Agnes Rullestad

BORN: May 10, 1910

DIED: March 5, 2012

LOCATION: Nevada, formerly of Huxley, Iowa

Agnes Charlotte Rullestad, 101, of formerly of Huxley, died March 5 in Nevada. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at Palestine Lutheran Church, Huxley. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday also at Palestine Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery.

Agnes was born in rural Slater May 10, 1910 to Amos and Carrie (Tesdell) Nervig. She was a life-long resident of Story County. She was a cook at Jordan's Café in Huxley, Alleman Café and the Fjord in Huxley. Agnes was a member of Palestine Lutheran Church where she taught the kindergarten Sunday School class and played the piano for Sunday School opening devotions. She was active in PWELCA. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, quilting, and making yarn wrapped clothes hangers. Agnes also enjoyed reading, playing the piano and listening to music.

Her survivors include her daughter, Marjorie (Arlen) Sheldahl, of rural Huxley; sons, LaVern (Linda) Rullestad, of Nevada, and Richard (Bernadine) Rullestad, of Urbandale; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Robert; brothers, James, LeRoy, Ole, and Amos Jr; and sister, Elnora Applegate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Palestine Lutheran Church, Ballard Creek Community or Story County Long Term Care.
