BORN: July 29, 1929

DIED: May 16, 2012

LOCATION:

Darlene Dorothy Engelhardt, 82, of Story City, formerly of Ames died May 16, 2012 at Bethany Manor. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22 at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Darlene was born July 29, 1929 in Hastings, NE to John and Alma (Oaker) Rothfuss. She graduated from Hasting High School. In 1947 she married Lloyd Engelhardt in Hastings. They moved to Ames in 1958 from McCook, NE. Darlene worked for WOI TV and Hunziker and Furman Realty as a secretary and bookkeeper. They moved to Reeds Spring, MO in 1970 and returned to Iowa in 1997. Darlene enjoyed dancing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Rasty of Ankeny; son, Richard (Deborah) Engelhardt of Ames; four grandsons, Troy Rasty of Des Moines, Aaron (Kylie) Rasty of Chicago, Chris (Nicole) Engelhardt of Story City, and Curt (Christine) Engelhardt of Ames; eight great grandchildren; brother, Mike of Hastings, NE; and sister, Norma of Sutton, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Don.
