Funeral Services Held Sunday for Glenn W. Morrison
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 18, in the Collins Church of Christ, for the late Glenn W. Morrison. The minister, the Rev. Frank W. Sutton, conducted the services, and the capacity of the spacious church was inadequate to seat all of the many sorrowing relatives and friends in attendance.
Music consisted of three solo numbers by Eldon Geisler: "Shadows," "Beyond the Sunset" and "Sunrise Tomorrow," with Mrs. C.R.Stone, pianist.
The many beautiful flowers were cared for by Mildred Borts, Nelda Robertson, Marjorie Maxwell and Doris Norton.
Casket bearers were Hugh Lint, Theodore Janes, Eldon Eatwell, Bela Norton, Russell Sparks and Fred Kimberley.
Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.
Glenn W. Morrison, second son of the late William Morrison and Mary Link Morrison was born on the family farm near Collins, March 20, 1908, and died very suddenly while at work in the field near his home Thursday forenoon, May 15, 1952. He was 44 years, 1 month and 25 days of age.
He grew to manhood in this community and graduated from the Collins high school with the class of 1926. Later, he attended the University of Commerce in Des Moines, Iowa.
At an early age he joined the Church of Christ and gave active support to the church throughout his life.
On May 24, 1931, he was united in marriage to Marie Tomlinson of Maxwell. To this union a daughter, Donna Lee, was born.
He was preceded in death by his father, who passed away September 13, 1950.
He leaves to mourn his untimely passing, his wife, Marie, and daughter, Donna Lee; his mother, Mrs. Mary Morrison; his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Morrison, a large number of relatives and a host of friends.
The deceased was a man of many virtues and his cheerful disposition endeared him to those who were near and dear. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a dutiful son and a helpful friend. His passing has brought sorrow to all who knew him.
