Services held for Henry L. Stenson

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 3, from Salem Lutheran Church for Henry L. Stenson, who died suddenly Friday at Wilmot, South Dakota. The Rev. Everett N. Nelson officiated at the service. Otto J. Hanson sang two songs, "Den Store Hvide Flok" and "The Old Rugged Cross." He was accompanied by Mrs. Hanson.

Burial was in the Roland cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons: Stanley Anderson, Alvin Barclay, Max Larson, Steven Eggland, Jim Shold and Mark Stenson.

Obituary

Henry L. Stenson, son of Lars H. and Siri Sirena Stenson, was born April 26, 1877, at Kelley, Iowa. He passed away suddenly on August 30, 1963, in Wilmot, South Dakota, at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 4 days.

He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and had been a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland since 1932. He lived most of his life in Story County.

Mr. Stenson was united in marriage to Julia Egemo on September 16, 1902, at Kelley, Iowa. To this union nine children were born: Louise (Mrs. Malcom Larson) of Roland, Selma (Mrs. Rudolph Anderson) of Slater, Olive (Mrs. Emery Barclay) of Madrid, Hazel (Mrs. Ralph Miller) of Roseau, Minn.; Fred of Nevada, Truman of Roland, Helen (Mrs. Arthur Shold) of Roland, Arlene (Mrs. Richard Eggland) of Roland, and Marvin of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia; his parents; and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Bryant and Mrs. Martha Slattenow.

He is survived by nine children; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ergen Stenson of Wilmot, S. D.; and three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Gear of Nevada, Mrs. Belle Twedt of Slater, and Mrs. Thea Bronson of Alden, Minnesota.
