From Nevada Representative September 19, 1877

A sad and fatal kerosene accident occurred in this town on Friday of last week. An only daugter of Mr. Efcamp, aged about 14 years, awas building a fire to get dinner. It seems the fire did not burn to suit her, and the removed the tea kettle to pour some kerosene on the wood to hurry it along in burning. The kerosene in the stove ignited, following the stream of kerosene to the can exploding it, throwing the fluid over the house and over the girl, enveloping her in flames and before she could be rescued, burned her so that she died the next day. This sad affliction comes with crushing force upon Mr. Efcamp, as it was only about a week previous he had buried his wife.
