T. L. Seevers formerly of this city died at his home in Des Moines, at 3:30 this morning. Mr. Seevers was for several years a resident of this city being superintendent of the electric light plant and his many friends here will be pained to learn of his demise. The remains will be taken to Marshalltown for burial.

Pioneer Passes Away.

Theodore L. Seevers was born in Clark county Virginia, near Winchester, March 7, 1835 and died at his home in Des Moines Thursday March 15, 1906, after an illness of about two weeks.

When seven years old he came with his parents to Burlington, Iowa, and later living on a farm in Mahaska county.

At the age of seventeen he went to Columbus, Ohio, where he learned the trade of a car builder. When the civil war broke out he enlisted in the Thirty-third Iowa infantry and served three years. After the war he lived in Boone for years where he worked in the car department of the Chicago & Northwestern R. R. Going from there to Marshalltown where for many years he was at the head of the car building department of the Iowa Central. Later he conducted the old electic lighting plant on South First street but sold out and came to Nevada where he was the electric light business a number of years before going to Des Moines.

Mr. Seevers was twice married, first to Miss Eliza A. Boswell of Richmond, Indiana, December 23, 1850. Three children were born, one of which, Mrs. W. W. Shannon survives her father. His second marriage was to Mrs. Kennedy who survives him.

The funeral was held at Marshalltown Saturday afternoon under the auspices of Knights of Pythias.
