Rev. L. T. Olson, Marshalltown, Dies

The Rev. L.T. Olson, 66, Marshalltown, died Sunday night at his home following a long illness. Cause of death was cancer.
He was a former resident of McCallsburg, having been born and raised there.
The Rev. Mr. Olson was pastor of the Evangelical Church in Marshalltown until his retirement last year.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; two sons, Lester, Dunhill, and Laverne, Glendale, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Ahrenholtz, Hot Springs, Ark., and Mrs. Jeanne Tisdale, Clarinda; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Peterson and Mrs. Lena Johnson, both of Marshalltown, and a brother, Willie, Mason City.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Grace Evangelical Church, Marshalltown. Burial will be in McCallsburg Cemetery.

Rev. Lewis T. Olson
Last rites for the Rev. Lewis T. Olson of Marshalltown were held Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the Grace Evangelical U.B. Church in Marshalltown, followed by graveside services in the McCallsburg cemetery.
The Rev. H.M. Raecker, pastor of Grace church, presided. The sermon was given by the Rev. J.A. Raehlen of Waterloo, who was district superintendent during the early ministry of Rev. Olson. The Rev. E.C. Boom of Van Horn offered prayer.
Mrs. H.M. Haecker, organist, accompanied T.A. Stevensvaag of Marshalltown who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Behold the Host."
A large number of ministers from over the state were in attendance, six of them whom served as casket bearers. They were the Rev. W.D. Winter, Story City; the Rev. R.R. MacCanon, Hubbard; the Rev. H.C. Brunemeir, Marshalltown; the Rev. R.S. Tabor, Marshalltown; the Rev. D.D. Eller, Zearing and the Rev. W.F. Ellerback, Gladbrook.
Lewis T. Olson, son of Isaac and Bertha Olson, was born Sept. 15, 1890, in Hardin County. He was reared and educated in McCallsburg. Sept. 15, 1909, he was married to Ethel Diana Huntrod of McCallsburg.
They resided in McCallsburg until 1918 when they family moved to Marshalltown. In 1924 he was ordained a minister of the Evangelical denomination. He served pastorates at George, Lansing, Nevada and Defiance before returning to Marshalltown in 1934 to serve as pastor of the Evangelical church.
Moving to Cedar Rapids in 1941, he owned and operated the Olson Realty Co. and served as pastor of two small churches near Cedar Rapids. In 1955 he retired and since lived in Marshalltown where he died Aug. 26 after an eight month illness at the age of 65.
The Rev. Mr. Olson was survived by his wife Ethel and four children; the Rev. Lester E. Olson of DeWitt, E. Laverne Olson of Glendora, Calif., Dorothy (Mrs. Neal Ahrenholtz) of Hot Springs, Ark., and Jeanne (Mrs. James Tisdale), Clarinda.
Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Lena Jons and Mrs. Anna Peterson of Marshalltown and W.H. Olson of Mason City. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
