Samuel Thomas Jack

Samuel Thomas Jack, only son of Thomas and Louisa McCully Jack, was born in Scott County, April 12, 1875, and died at this home in Jefferson, Aug. 20, at 81.

He lived on a farm near Panora and Bayard, Iowa, with his parents and sisters before coming to Jefferson in 1899, to work for McCully Brothers at their general store. He was associated with both the Bofink and Barker stores. For 27 years he was city clerk of Jefferson until he retired in 1951.

He was married to Dolly Pangborn June 25, 1899, at her home in Willow Township, Green County. The couple had three daughters. In 1918 they moved to Ames for two years where their eldest daughter, Lulu, died.

Surviving are his wife, Dolly; two daughters -- Mildred (Mrs. George Dunlap), Ames, and Dorothy (Mrs. Ralph Grant), Rolla, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Daisy Jenke, Van Horne; four grandchildren -- Beverly (Mrs. Meredith Warner), Sioux City, Ellen (Mrs. William Block), Des Moines; Jack dunlap, Ames; and Thomas Jack Grant, Detroit; and 7 great grandchildren Gregory, Susan, and Ann Warner; Deborah, Sandra, and George Block; and George Dunlop II.
