From Story County Watchman June 5, 1903

Zearing, June 4.--Joseph H. Rose died at his home three miles south of Zearing, May 28, of heart failure, aged 68 years and five days. He leaves to mourn his loss a sister, Mrs. Ann Seaman, of Clarence, Iowa; a devoted wife and five children; Mrs. Flora Beeson, of Marion; Mrs. Lida Jones, of Zearing; Mrs. Anna Anderson, of Beaman; Walter and George Rose, of Zearing.

Zearing Enterprise: ....Joseph A. Rose died at his late ome, 3 miles southeast of Zearing, Friday, May 29, 1903. He was born in Brooklyn Center, Pa., May 23, 1835, and was 68 years and 5 days old....
