Died.
Saturday morning John P. Easton died from the effects of a quantity of carbolic acid taken while in an unsound state of mind caused by a fall last February. After taking the solution he informed his wife what he had done and she at once caused him to lay upon the bed and then hastened for assistance but upon returning shortly the vital spark had fled. Since the fall upon the ice noted he had been unable to do any work and had become disheartened and resorted to this rash act while unbalanced mentally. After the end had come a postmortem examination by Drs. Smith, Richardson and Chamberlain, who returned the statement as above as to the direct cause. He cam from Illinois to this locality a couple of years since and was farming the Frazier farm near town at the time. His age was about 36 years. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss. The last rites were held Monday afternoon the services being in the Christian church and the sermon by Rev. Hougham. He was buried by Nevada Lodge of Masons, of which he was an honored member, according to the rites laid down in the ritual, the members of which order turned out in good number to attend the last remembrance of a member. He was also a member of the Woodmans order.
