--A. W. Fry and wife of Emmettsburg were in the sity this week called by the death of the mother of Mrs. F., Mrs Ulum.

In the same paper:

Sunday morning the unwelcome news was given out that at 3:30 a. m., Mrs. J. C. Ulum had died at her residence on Linn street after a brief illness of pneumonia, at the age of 63 years. She as a native of Grainville, Ohio and came to Nevada with her husband in 1893 and settled in their pleasnt home on Linn street near the city park. Being a near neighbor of ye local we can truly say that she was one of the best of women and stood very high in the esteem of her associates all of whom were almost stunned when the news was given out although they had been anticipating the result for a day or two. She will be greatly missed not only by her own family but by her neighbors as well. She leaves her husband, a son and daughter to look forward to the metting in the great unknown land of the future.
