Marshalltown, Dec. 30.--Mrs. Minnie Bonawitz, wife of A. L. Bonawitz, a horse buyer of this place, shot herself through the lungs at 1:10 this morning. The bullet ended her life. She wrote a note to the public in which she stated that she killed herself for the love of Chris Ritter, a bartender of this city. Mrs. Bonawitz was recently involved in a scandal in Ames with M. C. Dakin, a wealthy capitalist of State Center, and the attacks upon her good name since that affair have been so serious as to worry her.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Minnie (Mann) Bonawitz was born 22 November 1877 and died 30 December 1902. She was the daughter of Frank Mann and Mary (Owens) Mann. She married A. L. Bonawitz only 12 1/2 months before her suicide, on 15 November 1901 in Hardin County, Iowa.
