AMES.

Ames, Dec. 15.--Mr. Lyman McDowell, one of the old and very well-known brakemen of the Northwestern, died in this city at his home Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mr. McDowell had been in the passenger service of the Northwestern for fifteen years, most of which time he was on one of the Des Moines to Sioux City runs. He leaves a wife and two children and one sister, Mrs. L. B. Jones, of Marshalltown; The funeral and interment will be held on Tuesday afternoon.
