Zearing Enterprise: ...."Grandfather" Dawson, after about three weeks of sickness, died at the home of his son, G. Dawson, at about four o'clock this afternoon. Heart trouble and old age was the cause. Age, 82 years.

Zearing Enterprise: ....Elijah Dawson was born March 21, 1819 in Highland Co., Ohio and died near Zearing, Iowa, at the home of his son, Oct. 9, 1900, at the ripe old age of 81 years, 6 months, and 18 days.
