From Story County Watchman May 19, 1890

Tuesday morning Constable Harry Belcher of Indian Creek townshipjust before noon brought a man up who had been found in the old Whitaker grain house not far from Iowa Center. Arrangements were made to take him to the county house for care but before it was possible to do this he died. The remains were taken to the undertaking rooms of Mr. Hammond who took the best of care of them and in due time were interred in the Nevada cemetery. He had nothing upon his person to indicate where he came from or who he was, and it is all a mystery. His age was probably something over 50 years, weight about 130 pounds and medium height. He had been noticed in that neighborhood for a couple of days but no one thought anything about it until he was found. Apoplexy was given by the physicians as the probable cause of course induced by exposure to the weather and perhaps lack of food during the inclement weather for a couple of days.
