E. B. Chitty died Monday morning after a brief illness. He was one of the good men in this section and his loss will be felt by all.

In the same paper:

DIED.--At his home northeast of this city on Sunday last E. B. Chitty. He was born in 1823 and lived in this county for more than a generation. He came to this section and settled south of Colo afterwards going to his late residence at Johnson's Grove where he resided for more than a generation. The last rites were held under the direction of the M. E. Pastor at Colo on Tuesday after which the remains were placed to rest at the cemetery at the Grove. He was well and favorably known to all old settlers who followed him to his last home with regret and sorrow although he passed to the great beyond full of years and honor.
