From Story County Watchman February 17, 1899

DIED--Mrs. Agnes Danskin has been under the care of Dr. Hostetter for several months. Her daughters have given all their time and energy to bring her back to good health. Some of her most intimate friends have known that her mind has been weak, on account of the physical condition of her body. The family and friends believed she would soon be restored to health of former years.

The town plunged into grief this morning when it was learned that Mrs. Danskin had risen in the night or early morning and gone out of doors to a cistern north of the house and had removed the cover and had drowned herself.

In the early morning the daughters Ella and Jessie found that their mother had left her bed, and they at once searched the house and not finding her they aroused the neighbors who found the body in the cistern.

Mrs. Danskin was a good woman and mother, and was the last person to take he own life, if she had not been mentally sick and not accountable for her words and actions.
