Mr. Fred Nauke died on Wednesday evening, April 28, at the hom of G. Schaudt. Mr. Nauke was 75 years of age and his death was not unexpected. He has been a resident of Colo for a number of years and was well and favorably known by all. He was a veteran of the late war and the funeral will be conducted by the G. A. R. of which he was a member.

Frederick Nauke was born in Prussia, Germany, Feb. 25, 1822 and died in Colo, Iowa, April 28, 1807, aged 75 years, 2 months and 2 days. He was married to Anna Sophia Schilling Feb. 25, 1845, in Prussia, Germany. Came to this county in 1854 and lived in Dodge county, Wis., until 1863, then moved to Ontagamie county, Wis., and resided there nine years. In October, 1872, they moved to Colo, Iowa, where he has resided up to the time of his death. He suffereed the loss of his wife December 1, 1896. Of two sons that were born to them, one still lives--Frederick William--whose home is near State Center, Iowa. Mr. Nauke was a member of the Lutheran church. He was an old soldier, enlisting in Co. F, Ninetieenth Wis. Infantry in 1864 and serving until the close of the war, some eleven months. He was also a member of the G. A. R. Post in Colo. The service was held in the United Evangelical church on Friday morning by Rev. Pickford, and interment made in the Colo cemetery.
