From Story County Watchman April 30, 1897

DIED--At his home in Grant township, Patrick Moran, aged about 85 years. He was a native of Ireland and came to this country at an early day and settled upon the farm in that township where he remained until the last. He leaves a wife and five children now having to mourn his loss, on having preceded him tothe spirit land. The last services were held in the Catholic church in this city after which the remains were deposited in the cemetery to await the call of the resurrection morn. He was one of the sturdy pioneers who have done so much to build up this counrty and always stood high in the esteem of his neighbors.
