From Story County Watchman March 19, 1897

DIED.--At the home of Mrs. Margaret Murphey, March 16, Mrs. Evaline Murphey Armstrong, wife of W. E. Armstrong, of Roland, aged 43 years, 9 months and 16 days.

Mrs. A. has been ill for many years and it has been long only a question of how soon the end came, but all were unprepared for the event. Mrs. A. was born in Strawtown, Ind., and in 1855 came to this place with her parents, since which time she has been a resident of Story county. In May, 1873 she was married to Wm. E. Armstrong and they resided in Nevada until 1891 when they moved to Zearing where Mr. A. ran the Enterprise until some two years ago, when he went to Roland and established the Record of that place. Eight children were born to them, five of which yet survive her loss: Chas. E., Leona, Henry, Frank and Glen. Of recent years we have little knowledge of her, but years since she was one of the best and brightest girls of our city, standing high with all of her associates, all of whom are greatly grieved to learn of the end which all of us sooner or later must reach. That she was all that her earlier days promised is saying only what all of her friends believe to be the case. The sincere sympathy of all go out to the stricken family in this their hour of trial.
