From The Aegis attributed from February 8, 1864 (in truth it must be 1865 according to the age of the deceased and his grave stone) reprinted in the Nevada Representative February 8, 1905 under the heading "Pioneer Department - Contributors from Old Timers Invited":
The Aegis also gives an obituary notice that gives a good deal of patriotism and devotion and that is worth republishing, substantially in full, as follows: "Died, at the residence of Asa Joslyn, in Iowa Center, on Sunday, the 5th inst., Frank L. Daniels, a member of Co. K, 32d Iowa Infantry, aged 18 years, 11 1/2 months. The deceased was buried on Monday last with military honors, and the attendance of a large number of friends and citizens, and the school children of Nevada in a body. His funeral sermon will be preached next Sabbath at Iowa Center by Rev. J. G. Beckley. The father of the deceased served his full time as a member of Company E, 3d Iowa Infantry. His mother had been for some time past matron of the Soldier's Lodge at Memphis, Tennessee, and only reached home a few days before she was called to perform the last sad rites for her own soldier boy. Frank was more than ordinarily a good boy, a prompt and faithful soldier, and an obedient son, beloved by his companions and respected by the community for his quiet and gentle, manly habits. As brave old Admiral Porter says: 'it seems necessary that some should die, that Nation might live.' and Frank has been a noble sacrifice.
