Maxwell.
On Friday last some of the scholars in Miss Ida John's school two miles south of town, were tetering on a board, when a little boy, Asa Leroy aged 7 years, son of Wm. E. Parr, fell striking his side, near the region of the heart, on a piece of timber lying on the ground. He did not seem to be seriously hurt at first, but afterwards complained of severe pain, and feeling sick. He was sent home, and a short time his case was alarming. Dr. Joor, of Maxwell, and also Dr. Goodman, of Rhodes, were called. Their decision was that the main nerve connecting the heart with the spinal column, and through it with the brain had been paralyzed, and that the case was therefore hopeless. He lingered in great pain until Sabbath evening when death ensued. The funeral took place at the Mt. Zion Church on Tuesday forenoon, and was conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson. The school of which he had been a pupil, marched in a body, and each one dropped a bunch of flowers in the grave. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. and Mrs. Parr in their sad bereavement.
