DIED.--At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hoskins, five miles south east of Nevada, May 24th, 1888, Kezia Whitaker in the 87th year of her age. She was born in Juniata Co., Pa., April 9, 1802. Her maiden name was Jones. Jan. 8th, 1836, she was married to Samuel Whitaker. Came to Iowa in 1855 and lived two years in Polk Co. then came to Story Co., where the remainder of her life was passed, most of the time on the old home place on the Iowa Center road. Mr. Whitaker died in 1877. Three of her children live in the old neighborhood, viz. Thomas, Samuel and Mrs. Hoskins, the remaining one D. J. Whitaker removed to Kansas about a year ago and was not present at the funeral. She was a good christian woman and loved by all. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson, assisted by Rev. W. J. Holm, after which the remains were interred in the Cemetery at Iowa Center.
