DIED.--Jacob Mason was born in Crawford Co., Pa., March 12, 1812, and was therefore aged 74 years, 7 months, and 28 days at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Hannah Smith, Jan. 26, 1837, with whom be lived until her death, which occured Jan. 27, 1885. Came to Greene county, Wis., in the year 1850, and settled near Monroe the county seat, and was elected to the legislature in 1867. He removed to Iowa, landing in Nevada Oct. 12, 1868, and eventually settled in Grant township ten miles from Nevada. The father of six children, three sons and three daughters. One son and one daughter not living. Returned to Wis., a short time since to assist a daughter caring for a sick husband was taken sick himself and died Oct. 10, 1886. The remains were brought to Nevada and buried in the cemetery here, the funeral services being held in the Presbyterian church, of which he was a member. Rev. R. A. Ferguson preaching the sermon, and Rev. J. A. M. Zeigler assisting in the services.
