Obituary.

Commodore Perry McCord was born in Clermont county, Ohio, Oct. 10th, 1826. He came to Iowa in 1850 and settled in Des Moines county where he married Miss Sarah Smith Jan. 12th, 1851. He came to Story county in the fall of 1852 and settled on a farm east of Iowa Center. Nine children were the fruits of this marriage, five sons and four daughters, all of which are living. Mr. McCord was a member of Co. B, 23rd Iowa and lost a leg in the battle of Big Black river bridge and received his discharge from the service. He was the first auditor of Story county. Was a member of the I. O. O. F. and also a member of the Evangelical Association church. He has been paralized for three years during which time he suffered very much. He died on Saturday, Oct. 2nd and was buried on Sunday. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. R. A. Ferguson in the church at Iowa Center and was largely attended. The body was intered in the Iowa Center cemetery by the I. O. O. F. lodges of Nevada and Maxwell. Peace be to his ashes.

IN MEMORIAN.--The following resolutions have been adopted by Nevada Lodge, No. 104, I. O. O. F.:

WHEREAS.--It has pleased the supreme ruler of the Universe to remove from our midst our worthy brother C. P. McCord: therefore

RESOLVED.--That in his death the community recognize the loss of one who was strictly upright in his dealings, frank in intercourse with others, social in his disposition and conscientious in everything, thus making transaction of business matters with him a pleasure: and

WHEREAS.--Our Lodge has lost a faithful member tried and true and the community an upright and worthy citizen, and his family a loving husband and affectionate father:

RESOLVED.--That our condolence is hereby extended to his family and friends in their great bereavement and we desire hereby to extend to them our heartfelt sympathy:

RESOLVED.--That a copy of these resolutions be presented to each paper, WATCHMAN and Representative, and the Maxwell Tribune for publication and that a copy be sent to his wife and family.
