From Story County Watchman January 19, 1886

OBITUARY.--Mr. B. F. Adams was born in Muskingum county, Ohio Oct. 3d, 1829. He became a desciple of Christ at the age of 16. Was married to Rebekah Evans March 19th, 1849. He came to Ames, Ia. 18 years ago and engaged in business for one year. He then bought and improved the farm on which the Widow Smith now resides at Bloomington, Ia. and lived there two years. After that he bought and improved the farm on which he died and where his family still reside. He was one of the leading donors in building the Christian Chapel which stands on the northwest corner of his land. Being an industrious prudent farmer, Mr. Adams was successful and leaves his family in good circumstances. His honesty, integrity, and general interest in the welfare of all, won the esteem of his entire community and it regrets its great loss. A wife and six children remain to mourn his sudden departure. Having been for 40 years a faithful and humble follower of Jesus of Nazareth, the deceased has gone to his peaceful rest where he awaits his friends. May they all be so fortunate as to meet him on the other side of the dark river where death is a stranger and where friends never part. Owing to the snow blockade, Elder D. R. Lucas, of Des Moines, who had been selected by the family to conduct the funeral services, was prevented from being present. In his absence the clergymen of Ames served, to whom Mrs. Adams and family express their thanks for their words of comfort. The deceased was buried at Ames, Ia., Jan. 16, '86.
