Obituary

One of the most sudden and shocking deaths that has occurred in this community, was that of Miss Mary Egeland, which occurred Sunday evening. Miss Egeland left home about three weeks ago for a visit with friends in Des Moines, and no news reached her parents of her being out of her usual good health until a telegram reached them Sunday night that she was dieing in a hospital in that city. The father, Ingebrit Egeland, started at once but on arriving found his daughter cold in death. She had been sick in the hospital about ten days. The cause of death was given as malarial fever. The remains were shipped to Nevada Monday and were brought at once to her home.

Wednesday afternoon the funeral was held at Salem's church and the remains laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. The immence crowd of people that crowded the church testified to the high esteem that Mary Egeland was held in the community. She was about 24 years of age and one of the most beloved young ladies in the neighborhood. Her death was a sad blow to friends as well relatives. THE RECORD offers condolence to the sorrowing father, mother, sisters, brothers and friends.
