Marjorie Toot, 80, of Nevada, died on Saturday, Oct. 09, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Visitation will be Monday, Oct.11, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Marjorie Ann Toot, 80, of Nevada, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th St., in Nevada, with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial will be in Murphy Cemetery in rural Nevada.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 11, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.

Marge was born July 29, 1930, in Boone, to Orville and Amanda (Knudson) Miller. She was a Boone High School graduate. On June 26, 1949, Marge married Charles (Charlie) Mark Toot in Boone. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, ABWA, American Legion Auxiliary, IWBA, and a 4-H leader. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame for being the founder of Junior Bowling. She loved to volunteer, especially for Lincoln Highway Days and Fourth of July activities.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Shane Griffin (Stephanie), of Nevada, Amanda Toot Zimmer (Andy), of Eaton, Colo., and Stephanie Toot Kemp (Brett), of Fort Collins, Colo.; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold “Bud” Miller, of Bellevue, Neb., Francis Miller, of Nevada, and Danny Miller, of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Toot, on Nov. 15, 1997; son, Steve Toot, on Oct. 29, 2002; daughter, Sherry Toot, on July 14, 1963; and brother, Carroll Miller.

Memorials may be directed in Marge’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Memorial Lutheran Church.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Marge and her family.

Per Marge’s request, everyone is to wear jeans and sweatshirts in her honor.
