THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 28, 2010.

Johnnie Bruce Smith, 78, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, Calif. A funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 25, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, Wyo. He was interred in the Evanston City Cemetery.

He was born July 24, 1932, in Nevada, Iowa, to Billie Ella Horell. He married Arlene Marie Tice Feb. 18, 1952, in Des Moines. Johnnie and Arlene lived in La Mirada, Calif., for 50 years.

Johnnie founded and operated Smith Miniature Fabricators. He was a hard worker and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing, airplanes of all kinds, playing sports and spending time with family.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Arlene; a son, Steven and Midge Smith, of Kingman, Ariz.; and a daughter, Cindy and Scott Beebe, of Fallbrook, Calif. He is also survived by five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his dog, Sadie.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Judson B. Smith.
