Dick Snyder, 81, of Cambridge died Friday, Sept. 3, at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Fjeldberg Cemetery.

Dick was born November 10, 1928 in Bryan, TX to Silas and Emma (Wilmes) Snyder. He married Shirley Nelson December 27, 1950. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a certified Master farmer and had farmed in the Cambridge area since 1954. Dick was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church and the Cambridge American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Cambridge; children, Robyn Snyder Engstrom of Cambridge, Michael (special friend Julie) Snyder of Cambridge, and Lee (Lucy) Snyder of Cambridge; one sister Elizabeth Tisdale-Place of Allentown, PA; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Vernon Snyder.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund.

Soderstrum Riis Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
