Marian E. Gillis, 89 of Colo died on Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Memorial services will be held at a later date this month. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Marian and her family.

Marian E. Gillis, 89 of Colo died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown. A Celebration of Marian’s life will be held 11:00 am on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Colo City Park.

Marian was born on August 6, 1921 in Liberty Center, IA to John and Alice (Edwards) Hervey. In 1939, she married Lowell Gillis. Marian was employed at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada. She enjoyed playing card and board games. Marian loved being with her grandchildren.

Marian is survived by 2 daughters, Marilyn Long and Joan Gillis, both of Colo; 2 sons, Glen Gillis of Sun City, AZ and Keith Gillis of Colo; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Oren Hervey of St. Louis, MO and Carl Hervey of Ottumwa.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lowell on September 18, 1967, 2 sons, Leland in 1962 and Marvin on September 18, 1967, 3 sisters Harriette, Isabelle, and Wilma, and a brother Gerald Hervey.

A memorial fund has been established in Marian’s name.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Marian and her family.
